The Bulldogs posted a 1-1-0 record during the opening weekend of the season, falling at Long Beach State, 4-0, in their season opener before bouncing back to defeat Portland State, 1-0, in their home opener.
The 1-0 win over Portland State marked the first game at the new Gonzaga Soccer Field.
Junior Christi D'Agostino's first career goal proved to be the game winner in the Zags' win over the Vikings.
Sophomore GK Lauren Ames collected three saves versus Portland State to register her first shutout of the season and the third of her career.
The Zags travel to Idaho (8/29) before returning to Spokane to host in-state rival Washington (8/31) on Sunday. |

The Lions opened the 2008 season with a 1-1 tie versus UNLV.
The Lions entered the match versus UNLV riding a 10-game home winning streak dating back to last season.
Senior Lauren Shanklin scored the Lions' equalizing goal versus UNLV. The goal was Shanklin's sixth career strike. Junior Lacey Bartels registered her third career assist on Shanklin's goal.
Junior GK Allyssa Clark, making just her second career start in the net for the Lions, collected five saves versus the Rebels.
The Lions travel to Notre Dame to participate in the Notre Dame adidas Classic. LMU will face the host Irish (8/29) and West Virginia (8/31). |

Pepperdine dropped a 1-0 decision to Cal State Fullerton in its season opener.
Pepperdine recorded a total of 14 shots, seven in each half, and placed six of them on goal. Senior MF/F Emily Wynne a member of the 2006 All-WCC second teams, led all players with four shots. Senior F Amanda Rupp led the Waves and tied for match-high honors with two shots on goal.
Senior GK Kayla Stolte registered six saves versus Cal State Fullerton. Stolte, one of the top goalkeepers in the WCC, started all 19 games as a junior and posted a 0.93 goals-against average in 1,834 minutes.
Pepperdine continues its homestand with matches against Arizona State (8/29) and UC Santa Barbara (8/31) this weekend.

The Pilots opened the 2008 season with an impressive 3-1 win over in-state rival Oregon.
Portland freshman F Danielle Foxhoven, a member of the Pilots' No. 7 nationally ranked recruiting class, started her Pilot career with a bang, scoring in the third minute on her first career shot.
The Rapinoe sisters, who missed most of last season with knee injuries, made an impact in their return to the field as Megan Rapinoe assisted on two Pilot goals, while Rachael Rapinoe scored the Pilots' third goal of the evening.
Junior F Michelle Enyeart, named to the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy watch list, scored her 29th career goal in the win over Oregon.

Saint Mary's opened the 2008 campaign with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over UC Davis.
Senior MF Stefani Rocco came off the bench midway through the second half against the Aggies and scored both Saint Mary's goals, her second strike coming with just 57 seconds remaining in the first overtime period. The overtime goal for Rocco marked the first game-winning goal of the senior's career at SMC.
Sophomore F Alex Ciliento assisted on Rocco's first goal. As a freshman last season Ciliento was second on the team in goals with five, including three game-winning scores.
Sophomore GK Tara Larson collected two saves in the win over UC Davis.

San Diego dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 overtime decision against defending National Champion USC.
The Trojans out-shot the Toreros 9-5, but San Diego held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.
Senior GK Brittany Cameron tallied three saves against No. 1 ranked USC. Cameron, a 2007 All-WCC second team member, ranked second in the conference last season in shutouts with nine.
USD freshmen Dani Russell and Natalie Garcia, members of the Toreros' No. 20 ranked recruiting class, were named EA Sports first-team All-American honors following their senior season in high school.

San Francisco defeated Fresno State, 1-0, in its season opener. It marked the Dons' first season-opening win since 2003 and avenged a shutout loss to the Bulldogs last season.
Senior F Katherine Kimure scored on a breakaway in the 88th minute to lift the Dons over the Bulldogs. The goal was the first game-winner for Kimure and fifth of her career.
Senior GK Anika Steig recorded her first career shutout for the Dons and finished with six saves in the win over Fresno State.
The new look Dons started six freshmen and two sophomores in the contest. The Dons held an 11-6 advantage in shots and attempted eight corner kicks, compared to five for the Bulldogs.

Santa Clara opened up the 2008 season with a 3-0 win over rival San Jose State, extending their all-time record to 13-0-0 over the Spartans.
The Broncos received goals from junior F Lexi Orand, freshman F/D Jenny LaPonte, and sophomore F Anessa Patton. The goal was LaPonte and Patton's first career goals.
Orand, junior F Kiki Bosio, sophomore defender Lindsey Johnson, and junior F Katherine Reynolds added assists.
The win over the Spartans was Santa Clara Head Coach Jerry Smith's 327th win. Smith, the third winningest coach in NCAA Division I history, has compiled a 327-84-27 (.777) career record.
