Heading the crew of WCC alums are Olympic team members Brandi Chastain, Nikki Serlenga and Mandy Clemens, all from Santa Clara, in addition to Tiffeny Milbrett, Shannon Macmillan and Michelle French, three of Portlands finest. All six of those players were designated as founding players and were allocated to one of the eight major market squads.
In the 15-round WUSA draft that took place on December 11, thirteen former WCC-ers were drafted starting with four-time all-conference performer from Santa Clara, Jennifer Lalor, who was the 13th overall pick (2nd Round) by the New York Power. joining Lalor in the second round was former Bronco classmate, defender Kylie Bivens, taken by the Atlanta Beat with the 16th pick overall (2nd Round).
So far Santa Clara and Portland, which have won every WCC title since 1992, have placed 11 and 8 players in the league, respectively. Thats including three players that currently holding assistant coaching positions within the league: Chastain and MacMillan at their alma maters and former Portland standout Kimberly Stiles at Gonzaga.
