Junior defender Danielle Slaton was named an NSCAA/adidas All-American today, marking the third straight honor for the San Jose native.

The All-West Region teams were also announced, with senior defender Heather Aldama earning first-team honors while sophomore midfielder Aly Wagner and freshman midfielder Veronica Zepeda were second-team selections.

Slaton was the youngest member of this year's U.S. Olympic Team, and the only active collegiate on the national roster. She played in Santa Clara's season opener at Cal Poly on Aug. 25 before catching up with her national teammates as they won an Olympic silver medal at the Sydney, Games. Returning from Australia on Oct. 1, Slaton landed at San Jose's International Airport around 2 p.m., which happened to be Santa Clara's kickoff time against Wake Forest. She made it to the field just before halftime and immediately began warming up. She played the entire second half in the Bronco defense.

Five days later in the Broncos' next contest, Slaton scored her only goal of the season, against Gonzaga. Slaton also earned All-America honors in her freshman and sophomore campaigns and now has six goals and 23 assists in her career.
