She played in Santa Clara's season opener at Cal Poly on Aug. 25 before catching up with her national teammates as they won an Olympic silver medal at the Sydney, Games. Returning from Australia on Oct. 1, Slaton landed at San Jose's International Airport around 2 p.m., which happened to be Santa Clara's kickoff time against Wake Forest. She made it to the field just before halftime and immediately began warming up. She played the entire second half in the Bronco defense.
