Oct. 27 -- With good early morning racing conditions and a slight tail wind Gonzaga's women's novice eight captured their best time of the season during the novice heat of the Head of the Spokane Regatta held on the Spokane River. The team finished under the 18-minute mark for the first time this season and was nearly 30-seconds ahead of Washington State's top novice eight.
Following last week's dual race with Washington State, Gonzaga and WSU split their normal varsity eight's into varsity fours for competition. In the women's heat Washington State's varsity four was 11 seconds faster than the first Gonzaga varsity four. In the men's hear WSU's top varsity four boat edged Gonzaga's top varsity four by two seconds.
Gonzaga will hold Class Day races on Sunday before heading to the Head of the Lake regatta in Seattle in two weeks.
