In the Novice eight race the team had the race won with in the first 500m and pulled a time of 7:25 for first. Drake University came in second at 7:37, Cal was third with 7:39, Humboldt State (A) was forth at 8:02 and Humboldt State (B) was fifth with 8:36.
In the Women's Novice four race was a battle all 2000 meters between Saint Mary's and Humboldt State. Going stroke for stroke all the way the course the Gaels using there last bit of energy powered past Humboldt with 100meters to go for the victory by three seconds with a time of 8:52. Cal finished third with 9:08 and Drake University was fourth with 9:26.
In the Women's Varsity eight race the Gaels pulled through 1000meters tied for first with Drake, Cal and Humboldt State. This was a very physical and mentally challening race for the Gaels. With about 750meters to go Humboldt State made a strong push for the lead with Drake right on there bow ball. As they crossed the finished line it was Humboldt State first (7:05), Drake second (7:08), Cal third (7:12), Saint Mary's fourth (7:24), Humboldt State (B) fifth (7:29), and Cal lightweights sixth (7:30).
In the Women's Varsity four race the the Gaels fought hard all the way down to the wire with Humboldt State. With 500meters to go both teams were fighting for the lead when Humboldt had a burst of power to pull past Saint Mary's for first with a time of 7:56. Saint Mary's was second (8:07), Humboldt State (B) was third (8:08), Drake (A) finished forth (8:09), Cal was fifth (8:49), Drake (B) was sixth (8:55) and Mills College placed seventh (9:04).
Next the team will travel down South to San Diego this coming weekend to race against the top teams in the country at the Crew Classic on April 7 and 8.
