RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -- Gonzaga earned its sixth straight West Coast Conference women's rowing championship today, making it a clean sweep of all three races held at Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, California. The Bulldogs are the only school to win the WCC rowing championship in the six-year history of the event.
The Bulldogs won the I Eight in 6:55.9, nearly eight seconds ahead of second place San Diego. The Zags claimed the II Eight race in 7:13.0, beating Santa Clara to the line by nineteen seconds.
Gonzaga reclaimed first place in the I Four race (7:59.9), claiming the number one spot for the second time in four years.
San Diego used its two runner-up finishes to place second overall in the event. LMU and Santa Clara tied for third overall, while Saint Mary's finished fifth.
