April 7-At this past weekend's San Diego Crew Classic, the University of San Diego women's V8 placed third in Sunday's Women's Cal Cup Grand Final with a solid time of 6:58.35, finishing just behind winner West Virginia (6:57.00) and Loyola (6:57.25).Ê They did, however, defeat Louisville (6:58.53), UCLA (7:01.12) and West Coast Conference foe Gonzaga (7:03.75).

The USD women also competed on Sunday in the Women's Collegiate Novice Petite.Ê The Toreros placed 6th with a time of 7:27.62.Ê They followed winner St. Joseph's (7:14.3), UC Davis (7:19.05), USC (7:19.74), Stanford (7:21.80), and UC San Diego (7:27.36).

The Torero men competed in the Men's Cal Cup Petite and placed 5th with a time of 6:21.31; they edged out San Diego State (6:22.75).Ê Finishing ahead of the Toreros was winner Hobart (6:13.00), Texas (6:18.97), UCLA (6:19.40), and Long Beach State (6:19.84).
