Mar. 23 -- The Gonzaga University men's crew and Washington State University crew swept their respective events at the annual Fawley Cup Regatta held at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River outside of Pullman. Gonzaga's men won all five events for the day with victories in the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8, Novice 8, Varsity 4 and Novice 4. Gonzaga's Varsity 8 boat consisted of Nat Hopper (stroke), Mike Baisch (7), Mark Voorhees (6), Justin Toenes (5), Brad Hughes (4), Ben Foely (3), Dave Johnson (2), Jeff Kiely (bow) and coxswain Andrea Eberle. On the women's side, Washington State swept all the days events with victories in the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, Novice 8, Second Novice 8, and Varsity 4. Gonzaga's Varsity 8 consisted of Nickie Lustig, Alexis Skipitis, Bridget Troy, Breah Niemiec, Jennie Gilpin, Maria Bokulich, Cynthia Savoca, Christine McKeown and coxswain Courtney Haase. Official times from the event were not immediately available and will be posted once they are received.
