WCC Player of the Week Rachel Warren recorded a pair of double-doubles as Portland notched two road wins last week. The senior scored 10 points and grabbed 12 boards as the Pilots topped Pacific, 84-64, and pitched in 16 points with a season-high 13 rebounds in a 74-61 win at Sacramento State. For the week, Warren averaged 13 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest, while dishing out five assists and shooting a perfect eight-for-eight from the free throw line. San Diego's Rego Breaks Program Assist Record WCC Teams Excel In Non-Conference Play WCC Team Notes
Gonzaga Bulldogs (8-6 / 0-0 WCC) - Saturday's win over Eastern Washington marked the third time this season that the Zags have scored more than 90 points in a game, and marked GU's highest single-game points total since a 103-102 overtime win against the Eagles last season. The Bulldogs lead the WCC in scoring with 76.9 points per game. - Jami Bjorklund matched a career-high with 25 points in the win over Eastern Washington, and chipped in 16 points in the loss at Utah Valley State. The junior ranks second on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per contest. - The Zags travel to Saint Joseph's (1/3) for their lone game this week.
Loyola Marymount Lions (8-7 / 0-0 WCC) - Valerie Ogoke grabbed 18 boards in Friday's win, marking the second highest single-game total in LMU history. Ogoke enters the week averaging a WCC-best 8.4 boards per game. - Lisa Helmers was named to the all-tournament team after sinking six three-pointers and averaging 11.5 points in two games over the weekend. - Jenna Sybesma joined Helmers on the all-tournament team after scoring a career-high 29 points, and pulling down 14 rebounds against Cal State Bakersfield. - LMU has the week off to prepare for its WCC opener at Portland (1/10).
Pepperdine Waves (5-6 / 0-0 WCC) - Jessica Ross paced the Waves in scoring in both contests, dropping in 12 points against Coppin State and scoring a personal season-high 17 points against George Washington. The junior enters the week averaging 7.1 points per game. - Daphanie Kennedy currently ranks second in the WCC with 17.8 points per contest. - Pepperdine continues its road trip with a pair of games against ranked opponents this week. The Waves take on No. 6 ranked Rutgers (1/2) before traveling to No. 23 ranked Colorado (1/4). Pepperdine posted its first-ever win over a ranked opponent when the Waves edged then-No. 12 ranked Rutgers at Firestone Fieldhouse last season.
Portland Pilots (10-5 / 0-0 WCC) - Rachel Warren notched two double-doubles on the week, scoring 10 points with 16 rebounds against the Tigers, and adding 16 points and 13 boards against the Hornets. The senior is Portland's top rebounder (7.1 rpg), and ranks second on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg). - The Pilots are shooting a WCC-best .764 (233-for-305) from the free throw line, and look to lead the WCC in that category for the second straight season. Laiken Dollente is the league's top free throw shooter, as the sophomore is shooting .894 (76-for-85) from the charity stripe. - The Pilots have the week off before opening WCC play at home against LMU (1/10).
Saint Mary's Gaels (8-8 / 0-0 WCC) - Louella Tomlinson blocked 13 shots on the week to increase her program-record blocks tally to 81 on the season. The freshman moved ahead of former Gonzaga standout Stephanie Hawk into seventh place on the WCC single-season blocks list. - Sierra Chambers scored a career-high 19 points in the win over Cal State Fullerton, and added nine points with six rebounds against Northern Colorado. - With 10 more blocks, SMC will break the program team mark of 120 blocks set last year. - The Gaels have the week off before opening conference play at Santa Clara (1/12).
San Diego Toreros (8-5 / 0-0 WCC) - Amanda Rego dished out 20 assists on the weekend to move into first place on the USD career assists chart with 497. The senior, who has collected a WCC-high 110 assists so far this season, currently ranks 10th on the conference's all-time list. - Amber Sprague was tabbed for tournament MVP honors after averaging 20.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game over the weekend. Sprague dropped in a game-high 23 points on 10-for-19 (.526) shooting in the loss to Texas. - San Diego returns to action on the road, traveling to take on UC Irvine (1/6) for a final non-conference tune up before opening WCC play at San Francisco (1/12).
San Francisco Dons (9-5 / 0-0 WCC) - The Dons' six-game unbeaten run was the longest for a USF squad since the 2001-02 team also reeled off six straight wins. - Necolia Simmons led the Dons against Nevada, coming off the bench to post her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Simmons enters the week averaging 10.4 points per game, and a team-high 7.4 boards per contest. - Dominique Carter is currently averaging a WCC-high 20.1 points per game. The senior looks to become the first Don since Teri Hunt in 1986-87 to lead the conference in scoring. - USF returns home to host No. 22 ranked Wyoming (1/3) in its lone contest this week.
Santa Clara Broncos (10-3 / 0-0 WCC) - The 50-point difference against the Titans ranks as the sixth-largest margin of victory in SCU program history. - Jen Gottschalk produced her third double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds in the win over Northern Arizona. - SCU's Nicole Gall (2nd-.481), Elizabeth Doran (3rd-.473), and Chandice Cronk (5th-.416) all rank among the WCC's top-five in 3-point field goal percentage. - The Broncos host Cal State Bakersfield (1/4) this week.
