San Diego senior Miguel Suazo (Albuquerque, New Mexico) scored the game's only goal 10:56 into the first overtime to give the host USD Toreros (16-1-2) a thrilling 1-0 OT victory over the visiting UCLA Bruins (12-7) before a standing-room-only crowd of 4,000. USD, the No. 4 seed in this year's tournament, will next play the winner of Sunday's match between Creighton and Ohio State. San Diego will find out if they host, or if they will travel, on Monday, November 20th.

The game winner was set up when Torero freshman Matt McCausland (San Diego, CA) sent a ball from the right side to the middle towards Ryan Coiner (Aliso Viejo, CA). Two UCLA defenders marked Coiner, but somehow the ball cleared past all three of them and Suazo found himself wide open just to the left of the goal. Suazo trapped the ball and blasted it past Bruin keeper DJ Countess to the right corner and game-winner -- it was Suazo's 5th goal of the season.

For the game, both teams had plenty of chances as the Bruins outshot the Toreros 17-13 (11-5 in 2nd half), and totaled ten corner kicks to USD's 3. Bruin scoring leader McKinley Tennyson had 8 of UCLA's 17 shots, but Torero keeper Justin Neerhof (Denver, CO) was credited with 7 saves and improved his record in net to 14-0-2. A few minutes prior to Suazo's heroics, the Toreros almost won the game win Ryan Coiner, the team's leading scorer (17 goals, 42 points), found himself on a counter-attack but his wide-open chip shot sailed high over the goal.

USD head coach Seamus McFadden, who recently earned his 3rd straight WCC Coach of the Year title, and seventh overall, improved his NCAA Tournament record to 8-7 (this was USD's 7th NCAA overtime match in 15 matches). With the victory, USD improved to 11-1 at home this season, and 21-1 overall.
