USF women's golf entered the third round of the 2001 Lady Vandal Fall Golf Invitational in fourth place after a pair of disappointing rounds. The Lady Dons redeemed themselves and set a program record in the process firing a 294 in the final round to secure their second runner-up finish in three tournaments.
Junior Susie Laing led the USF charge in the final round, firing a one-under 71 to finish third with 224 (76, 77, 71). Junior Lisa Chen also posted a top-10 finish with 227 (77, 77, 73). Sophomore Jordan Auten shaved two strokes off her score in each successive round, ending with a 76 during the final round to finish with a share of 15th place at 234 (80, 78, 76). Junior Lyndsey Devenish shot 74 in the final round, while senior Emilie Arnaud carded a 78 for the Lady Dons. USF's previous single-round low came last season in the opening round of the 2000 Oregon State Shanico Invitational when the Lady Dons fired a 296 in the opening round en route to a runner-up finish in the event.
Portland and Gonzaga also competed in the tournament. The Pilots took home fifth place with a 320 in the final round. The Zags finished in 16th with a final round 338. Individual scores for Gonzaga and Portland were not immediately available.
