WINDSOR, CALIF. --Pepperdine won its ninth West Coast Conference men's golf championship in eleven years with a combined team score of 2-under 862 (285-281-296), beating San Francisco by 26 shots at the Windsor Golf Club in Santa Rosa, CA. It was also the third consecutive team title for the Waves.
Pepperdine freshman Randy Creighton (Las Vegas, NV) won the individual title with a 3-under 213 (70-68-75) for the 54-hole event, leading a trio of Wave golfers in the top three spots. Michael Beard was runner-up with a one-under 215, and Jason Allred also made par by finishing with an even 216.
Defending champion Fernando Gomez of San Francisco finished in a tie for fourth place with Luke Easterly of Portland. Each finished the event at a 2-over-par 218. Gomez tied Creighton for the low round of the tournament, with each shooting a 68 during the first two rounds of competition.
