Sophomore Antonio Lopez (Albuquerque, NM) was the University of San Diego men's cross country team's top finisher at the 2000 NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships. Lopez, who led the Toreros in every event this fall, was 36th overall in the 10K (6.21 mile) course at Woodward Park, finishing with a time of 31:47 (5:08 average per mile). As a team, the Toreros placed 19th out of 21 teams -- Stanford won the team title with 58 points, edging out Arizona (62).
Lopez was followed by teammates Steve Trudelle (Fr.; 35:10), Rob Beamer (So.; 35:56), Jaime Monroe (Fr.; 37:26) and Brian Peterson (Fr.; 36:24).
