Television FAQs

How is the West Coast Conference affiliated with ESPN?
As part of a long-term agreement that is consistent with that of major Division I conferences, ESPN is the exclusive national television home for West Coast Conference men's basketball. The ESPN family of networks will air a total of 35 WCC events in 2008-09, including 30 men's basketball games, two women's basketball games, one baseball game, one women's soccer match and one women's volleyball match.

Does the West Coast Conference have regional/local television deals?
The West Coast Conference and its member institutions have entered into separate agreements to have games televised on Fox Sports Northwest, KHQ Spokane, Comcast SportsNet Northwest, Comcast SportsNet California, Fox Sports West, Fox Sports Prime Ticket and San Diego Channel 4 in 2008-09.

How many men's basketball conference games will air in 2008-09?
Seventy-five percent --- 42 of 56 --- WCC men's basketball games will be televised this season. Fourteen of those games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks and the remaining 28 will be aired regionally. Of those 28 regional broadcasts, 14 of them will air in one or more of the top 75 media markets in the country (#2 Los Angeles, #6 San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose, #14 Seattle-Tacoma, #20 Sacramento/Stockton/Modesto, #22 Portland, #28 San Diego, #75 Spokane).

Are WCC men's basketball regional telecasts subject to blackout?
Yes. All conference games, as well as non-conference games hosted by WCC schools at a home facility or otherwise, cannot be distributed via cable or satellite outside the "WCC Territory" (defined as the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington or Wyoming) unless televised by the ESPN family of networks. These requirements are consistent with other major conferences for which ESPN serves as the exclusive national home for men's basketball. The blackout does not apply to games made available to ESPN Full Court and/or ESPN360 by the conference and regional television outlet.
