IMG College Inks West Coast Conference to Multi-Media Rights Agreement
Sept. 4, 2008 LEXINGTON, Ky. - IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, today announced that it has reached a four-year partnership with the West Coast Conference to become its exclusive multi-media rights partner. The agreement will run through July 2012 with an option for an additional four years, and includes a comprehensive multi-media rights sponsorship deal encompassing media and corporate sponsor elements for the Conference. Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE), an affiliate of both Nets Sports and Entertainment, LLC and the New Jersey Nets basketball team, has been retained to assist IMG College and the Conference in securing a naming rights partner/s for its neutral site basketball tournament. "This is a new and exciting time for the West Coast Conference and we're delighted to add IMG College to our team," said Jamie Zaninovich, WCC Commissioner. "IMG College is a proven leader in the field and we look forward to experiencing the growth and opportunities this new partnership will afford to the eight member institutions and nearly 3,000 student-athletes in the WCC." "This is an extremely exciting time to be a part of the West Coast Conference and we're thrilled to be partnered with one of the top athletic organizations in the country," said Tom Stultz, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for IMG College. "Bringing high caliber BSE into the mix to head the naming rights efforts for the Men's and Women's Basketball Conference Championships only adds to the inevitable success this new partnership possesses for the Conference." "We are proud to launch a strategic alliance with the West Coast Conference and IMG College in securing a presenting partnership for the WCC Basketball Championships," said Brett Yormark, the president and CEO of Nets Sports and Entertainment and its Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment affiliate. "The WCC is one of the premiere college basketball conferences and it will have a terrific opportunity to shine during its postseason tournaments this coming season in Las Vegas. With BSE's recent success in completing two naming rights sponsorships, including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the IZOD CENTER at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ, we feel we are well-suited to assist the WCC in reaching its goals." Former Stanford University Athletics staffer, Daniel Shell, has been named General Manager of the WCC property. Shell has also served in basketball coaching and administrative roles at WCC-members Saint Mary's and Pepperdine. Shell will be assisted by Katie Stockberger, who will serve as the WCC's Sponsorship Services Executive. IMG College also represents West Coast Conference member institution, Gonzaga University. Since IMG Worldwide began its focus on the college market in 2007, IMG College and its sister division, The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), have secured new and expanded rights with several major collegiate institutions. IMG College formed an alliance with CBS to represent the NCAA's sponsorship rights that recently yielded a corporate partnership deal with Hershey's. Additionally, IMG College has acquired new partnerships, or secured expanded multimedia rights partnerships, with the University of Michigan, the University of Oregon, the University of Nebraska, Gonzaga University, the Ohio Valley Conference, and printing rights for The Ohio State University. On the collegiate licensing side, CLC has added relationships with two Big East clients, Rutgers University and West Virginia University, along with long-term contract renewals with many other key partners.
